Fostering

Right now across Cumbria there is an urgent need for more foster carers to provide supportive, safe and happy homes for children.

Cumbria County Council already supports around 200 fostering households, but with nearly 700 children needing foster families, they are always looking for more people to join in.

How can you help?

Cumbria County Council is asking churches across the county to sign up to its Fostering Friendly Churches (FFC) scheme in 2019.

The scheme is part of the council’s ongoing drive to recruit more foster carers for vulnerable children across the county; with churches which sign up also being asked to participate in foster carer recruitment campaigns throughout the year – particularly during Foster Care Fortnight (May 13 to 26).

Foster carers have an important role and the FFC scheme also asks local churches to help provide them with a network of support that allows them to change the lives of the children in their care.
